The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines with a membership of more than 820 thousand, and serving the nation for more than 9 decades. The IEI has its headquarters located in Kolkata with national presence through more than hundred Centres and several Overseas Chapters, Foras and Organ.

Muzaffarpur is known as city of Litchi in India. It is famous for shahi Litchi. It is also historical place. First democracy of the world “Lichhvi republic” is situated about 40 Km from here towards south west. The birth place of Mata Sita Sitamarhi is about 60 Km from Muzaffarpur. The route to Janakpur Nepal is also passing from here. It is about 100 Km. for towards North.

The muzaffarpur local Centre of The Institution of Engineers (I), established in 1969 at Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, Muzaffapur. After its establishment, it is providing a local platform where cutting-edge advancement in engineering R & D, current engineering technological ideas are shared by organizing seminar, conference, workshop, discussion on recent topic and many others technical activities. It invites eminent personalities of local area to deliver lectures on different occasion.

The Muzaffarpur Local center has five engineering divisions and more the 1000 corporate members associated with it. The aim of the centre is to provide a platform to bring together engineers belonging to different desciplines and also non-engineers who are interested in the topic for exchange of experiences, to enolve new concept and to broaden general understanding.
